San Francisco Couples therapy - Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Couples Therapy – I believe couples form relationships for conscious and unconscious reasons. The conscious ones are obvious: physical attraction, similar interests, shared experiences. The unconscious connection has to do with what wasn’t completed in childhood. For instance, we seek someone who will take care of us in the way we weren’t in our childhood. Often these unconscious wishes cause difficulties and can ultimately cause the demise of the relationship. Conversely, if these issues are brought to the surface and worked through, it can deepen and strengthen the couple’s relationship.

My experience with college students comes from my work and training at St. Mary’s and Mills Colleges in their counseling centers. I work with students adjusting to college; separation and individuation, relationships, family issues, depression, anxiety and transition to young adulthood.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender population has been another area of my work. I have taught classes and workshops at Alliant University/CSPP and at NCSPP on gay and lesbian issues that including the complexities of family as well as couple and individual issues.

My work and training with the geriatric populations includes the Over 60’s clinic and Geriatric Services in SF and Bay Area Wellness Services. I have consulted with families, and see individuals with issue relating to aging and health.

I trained and worked at a drug and alcohol agency in Oakland where I counseled in individual, group and couples psychotherapy. Also, lead drug diversion and treatment groups and educated the community.
